February 5, 2024 (Boston, MA) – Vineyard Global, a boutique PR agency headquartered in Boston, MA, has been appointed as the public relations Agency-of-Record for Big Life Foundation in North America.

“Big Life Foundation is serving a critical need in protecting East Africa’s natural heritage. Our agency was founded out of a passion for meaningful destinations and mission-driven companies and organizations. In Africa, the folks engaged in wildlife conservation and those within the tourism industry (where we have done much of our storytelling) have always been intertwined stakeholders in the long-term success of iconic species. We are delighted to bring Big Life Foundation into the Vineyard Global fold. We hope we can raise awareness amongst North Americans about how important Big Life’s work is in this region.”
– Mindy Harris, Managing Director, Vineyard Global.

Big Life Foundation’s core operations focus on providing security for wildlife, and protection of the natural spaces where wild animals roam in one of the planet’s most iconic natural ecosystems – Amboseli. Big Life works across an enormous land mass area in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania where there is a constant threat of illegal poaching, and ongoing threat of human-wildlife conflict. Local Maasai communities are a critical partner in these efforts, and Big Life invests heavily in programs that bring people  greater benefits from protecting their land, conserving their cultures and traditions, and safeguarding wildlife.

To accomplish its goals, Big Life employs hundreds of local Maasai rangers with more than 30 permanent ranger outposts and tent-based field units, 14 patrol vehicles, 2 tracker dogs, and 2 planes for aerial surveillance. In addition to its security operations, Big Life maintains an array of robust community social service programs in healthcare and education, which support and foster the wellbeing of children and adults living within their operational area.

“Big Life’s rangers protect the wildlife and wild lands of East Africa, but our reach as an organization is much wider. From our charities in the US, Canada, and the UK, to our supporters around the world, it’s a global movement. We’re excited to have Vineyard Global working with our Kenya-based PR team at Plantwood Communications to help amplify our story, so that more people know about the incredible work happening in Kenya and Tanzania for elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes and all the amazing animals that call Amboseli home.”
– Amy Baird, Deputy Director, Big Life Foundation USA.

Big Life Foundation is a wildlife conservation organization protecting over 1.6 million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo-Kilimanjaro ecosystem of East Africa in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. Key to Big Life’s success is its partnerships with local communities living within this ecosystem. Co-founded in September 2010 by photographer Nick Brandt, conservationist Richard Bonham, and entrepreneur Tom Hill, Big Life was the first organization in East Africa to establish coordinated cross-border anti-poaching operations.
