Dorobo Mobile “Fly” Camp is named after the hunter-gatherers of the Maasai people, known as the Dorobo. Truly the stuff of legends, the Dorobo spend their lives living off the African savannah, carrying no other protection than their intrinsic understanding of the wilderness. Inspired by the wanderings of the Dorobo people, Basecamp is delighted to offer the unique opportunity to partake in one or multiple days of walking and comfortable camping on the savannah within the private Mara Naboisho Conservancy. This is the kind of African bush experience that makes for indelible memories on a guest itinerary.

Guests generally arrive at Dorobo Mobile Camp in the late morning after departing from one of Basecamp’s nearby permanent camps; often Wilderness Camp or Eagle View. Following a few hours of walking, picnic lunch is served in the shade of a tree en route. An afternoon walk brings guests to the campsite, where specially-designed mobile tents offering mattresses and real linens are pre-set, and an enticing central firepit awaits. Following a delicious cooked plated bush dinner, Masai staff sit with guests and enjoy storytelling and star gazing around the fire.
