Savute Safari Lodge

Savute Safari lodge is a luxury 12-chalet lodge located in the Savute Region of Chobe National Park, in northwest Botswana. The chalets, which have been elegantly furnished in calm neutral tones to blend with the natural environment, feature expansive private decks, a combined bedroom and lounge area and en suite facilities. Savute’s piece de resistance is its watering hole, just in front of the reception area, which provides for wildlife viewing immediately in front of your eyes, all year long.

Stretching from the Linyanti River all the way to Savute Marsh, the winding waterways of the Savute Channel have pumped life into the western section of Chobe National Park for thousands of generations. However, this fickle and unpredictable channel has a fascinating history of flooding and drying up, independently of good rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere. The Savute region and the Savute Marsh in particular, is renowned for its intense predator encounters and exceptional game viewing making it one of Botswana’s most popular wildlife destinations.

During the summer months of November-April as the rains fill the myriad of pans and pools in the channel and as the Savute marshland regenerates, vast herds of Zebra, Wildebeest and other Plains Game will flock to the area. This is considered a migratory pattern, possibly linked with the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan migration. The abundance of water and fresh grazing transform the open plains into a playground for wildlife as many antelope will also be birthing at this time. Migratory birds add to the already numerous species to be found here. Carmine bee-eaters, Yellow-billed Kites, Vultures, Ostrich and even Crested Crane may be found here.
